How to Read Your Safety Profile

What the numbers, FBI state context, and incident map mean on a CrimeAlerts.us safety profile.

What this report is

A Neighborhood Safety Profile is a quick, source-attributed read on what has been reported around an address or ZIP. It is a monitoring tool, not a safety verdict.

Incident count and map

The 30-day count is the number of SpotCrime/public-source reports inside the radius you selected. The map pins are the same reports, plotted from their source location.

FBI state context

The FBI line shows annual, state-level UCR estimates for violent and property crime, and how they changed across a recent multi-year window. It is state-level (not address-level) and lagged. It exists to give you slow-moving context next to the 30-day incident view.

What this report is not

Recommended use

Use the profile to set up free SpotCrime email alerts so new reports near the address come to you over time. Watch for clustering by time, distance, or category instead of single incidents.
